Club Bowls at The Bowlo
Leichhardt has been playing bowls on this patch since 1923. A century on, the greens are still busy most days of the week, and the club is still owned by the people who play on them.
Club bowls covers everything beyond a casual barefoot session. Social roll-ups through the week, competitive pennants on Saturdays, club championships across the season, and a bar that knows how you take it when you come off the green.
You do not need to have played before. Plenty of our members picked up a bowl for the first time in their fifties, sixties or later, and there is always someone happy to show you how it works.

Thursday Social Bowls
$5 entry. Winning rink takes the prize pool. Names in at the bar before start.
Fridays 4:30pm
Friday Twilight Bowls
$5 entry. Winning rink takes the prize pool. Lucky rink wins bar vouchers.
Saturdays 12:00pm
State Open Pennants
A ten week season, weather permitting, followed by zone and state playoffs. Contact the bowls team for this season’s dates and side selection.

Major Singles, Minor Singles, Pairs, Triples and Mixed Fours. Draw and dates posted in the clubhouse each season.
New to Bowls?
Three steps and you are on the green. No experience needed, and nothing to buy before you start.
Come Down First
Turn up to a Thursday or Friday social session and have a look. Say hello at the bar and someone will point you at the right rink.
Borrow the Gear
Club bowls are available to borrow while you find your feet. Flat soled shoes or bare feet are all you need to get on the green.
Join When Ready
Once you are hooked, sign up as a bowling member and get access to pennants, championships and the member discount at the bar.
The Greens
Greens are open Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00am until dusk.
Wet greens damage easily, so play may be called off after rain. If the weather looks marginal, call the club before you head down and we will let you know how the greens are holding up.
The clubhouse, beer garden and Blue Ribbon Bistro are all a few steps from the green, so there is somewhere to sit, eat and settle in before and after a game.
